Moderate overlap front: original test

Rating applies to 2008-15 models

Tested vehicle: 2008 Scion xB wagon

The Scion xB was redesigned for the 2008 model year. Its size and weight have increased sufficiently to reclassify it as a small car. (The earlier design was classified as a minicar.) Frontal ratings are assigned by the Institute based on a test conducted by Toyota as part of frontal crash test verification.

Side: original test

Rating applies to 2013-15 models

Tested vehicle: 2013 Scion XB wagon with standard front and rear head curtain airbags and standard front seat-mounted torso airbags

The Scion xB was redesigned for the 2008 model year. Its size and weight have increased sufficiently to reclassify it as a small car. (The earlier design was classified as a minicar.) Beginning with 2013 models, design changes were made to the side curtain and side torso airbags and front and rear door trim panels.

Two tests of the xB were conducted, one of a 2008 model by the Institute and the other representing a 2013 model by Toyota as part of side crash test verification. These vehicles are rated separately, except that the structure ratings for both vehicles are based on both tests. (The car tested by Toyota was designated as a 2012 model but included the side curtain airbag and door trim changes of the 2013 models.)
